There’s nothing better than a pool party and Mother’s Day, right? The swimming pool contractors from SwimRight Pool Service and Repair offer tips for how to host a Mother’s day poolside brunch. With Mother’s Day being on May 14 now is the time to stop planning for your party with mom and Grandma! Mother’s Day is one of the biggest days of the year in which families go out to brunch. If you have a swimming pool and a flare for entertaining, host a Mother’s Day brunch this weekend.

Host a Mother’s Day poolside brunch

Here are tips for hosing an incredible Mother’s Day brunch:

  • Brunch is a perfect meal. It lets mom sleep in and not have to rush around for breakfast and it’s early in the day so a poolside brunch lets you have the rest of the day to spend in the swimming pool enjoying each other’s company.
  • The first thing you may want to do is to decide if you want a theme for your Mother’s Day brunch. A theme helps all of the rest of the decorating and food ideas fall into place. If Mom loves retro items, host a retro-themed brunch. If Mom is a fan of Disney, host a Disney-themed event. If she adores the color green, decorate in those shades and base the theme around the color. Even if the brunch is casual, take some time and decorate the tables — add potted plants that the guests can take home with them as a reminder of a great day together.
  • Send invitations. If you have time, send the invitations via mail. If you have waited until the last minute, you can call or email attendees.
  • Decide the flow for the poolside area. Will you have a food station? An area where people can change into and out of suits? Will you need to prep food in the house and cook it outside? Deciding all of these items up front will make the day itself go smoothly — after all, you’re not going to ask Mom (or your wife) to plan the party, are you?
  • Do as much pre-party food prep as possible. If a guest/family member offers to help out, say “yes!” Let them know the menu and have them tell you want they want to bring, cross it off your list and you have just eased any cooking burden for the party! Don’t forget dessert. It might be easiest to order a cake or cupcake tray for the day.
  • Stock up on extra towels, sunscreen, flip flops and other items your guests might forget to bring with them.

When Mother’s Day comes around, kick back, enjoy the day and celebrate with friends and family!
