SwimRight Pool Contractors offer swimming pool safety tips for parents. Because swimming pools are almost the norm for homeowners in Arizona, the rates of drowning and other in-pool accidents may be higher, but we have swimming pool safety tips for parents that can help to make the pool the safest room in the house!
Swimming pool safety tips for parents
- Swimming lessons should be required for everyone in the house hold. Find out how old your child has to be before he can take lessons — in some cases, they can be as young as one year old. Remember, even if your children know how to swim they should NEVER be left alone — not even for a second. In fact, no one should swim alone — children or adult.
- Learn CPR. Call the local Red Cross office and ask for a time when they will be offering CPR. Ask for pool-specific safety information.
- The pool drain covers must be in compliance with ASME and ANSI standards. Ask your pool service contractor from SwimRight Pools to inspect the pool to make certain it’s in compliance.
- The pool needs to be surrounded by a safety fence and it should be locked at all time.
- Utilize layers of safety protection around the pool including: no swimming alone, no jumping off the diving board if someone is under it. Add a pool safety cover as another measure of safety.
- Alcohol and swimming do not mix. If you’re drinking you should not be swimming.
- Have life jackets, long safety poles and other safety accessories pool side at all times.
