How to repair a leaking pool is something that the pool service contractors from Swimright Pool Service & Repair explain can happen if you own a vinyl liner pool, fiberglass or even concrete.

How to repair a leaking pool

Before you consider a pool repair, you should determine whether the pool is truly leaking or if the water levels are going down because of evaporation or from the kids splashing the water out when they’re playing.

  1. Perform the bucket test. Fill a bucket with water, place it on the pool steps — keep the bucket above the water level. Mark the inside and outside of it with a marker. Check after a couple of days and see how much water is missing from either, or both. If the difference in water level inside the bucket and outside of the bucket are similar, the pool is probably losing water because of evaporation. If the pool water has dropped dramatically as compared to the water in the bucket, it could indicate a leak and it’s time to call a pool service contractor in Scottsdale, Arizona. vinyl liner
  2. Give the pool a once over. If you see standing water around the pool walls that could be an indication of a plumbing issue. Call your pool contractor if you cannot find a leak but know you’re losing water. The leak could be in an area that you simply cannot view with the naked eye.
  3. Check for rips or tears if you have a vinyl liner pool. Check around the lighting or drains. If there is water inside the light housings, turn off the electricity to the pool and call your contractor immediately.
  4. A leaking concrete pool is a less frequent occurrence, but it can still crack and leak. With concrete, a leak is easier to see because cracks are more visible than in a vinyl liner pool. A neat trick pool contractors offer is to squeeze food coloring next to the crack, if the food coloring “disappears” into the crack, there is a leak.

Repairing a pool leak is,  many times, best left to a swimming pool repair professional.
