SwimRight Pools, serving Scottsdale, Arizona explain how to tell if your pool is leaking

“Is my swimming pool leaking?” This is a question that you may ask at some point during your ownership of a swimming pool. It is a scary thought if your pool has either sprung a leak or if there is plumbing that is not tight enough to prevent leaking underneath the pool structure. Finding a leak in your swimming pool isn’t as easy as going out and seeing a huge puddle of water and your swimming pool being empty. A leak can be insidious and until you notice the water levels dripping dramatically and or if you see puddling around the pool it may be difficult to determine.

The swimming pool service contractors from SwimRight Pools say there are myriad ways an experienced pool contractor can identify a potential leak. They include: clean pool water

  1. We will be able to identify leaks in your swimming pool during the course of routine service and maintenance visits. Additionally, a walk around the swimming pool will show any standing water or any leakage issues with hoses or pipes. A pinhole sized leak can ruin the structural integrity of the pool and can also cause the sand under the structure to shift.
  2. Damp, soggy ground around the swimming pool could indicate a leak even if there is not a visible rip or tear in the pool lining.
  3. Are the grass and weeds either growing faster, or dying, in the area around the pool? This could be caused by leaking water.
  4. If you hear water dripping, isolate the sound and talk with your pool contractor.
  5. If there are excessive water levels drops, talk to us to have us investigate and explain how to perform the “bucket test” for the leak.

Do not leave a leaking swimming pool unaddressed as it could lead to irreparable damage.
