How to choose poolside plants
- Living in Arizona means you will choose plants that can take the heat. There are many plants amenable to desert weather. Spend your landscaping dollars on plants that won’t wilt.
- Choose plants that don’t require a lot of water. Plants that continually seek water sources will have roots that creep across the lawn and could potentially damage the pool plumbing and structure.
- Choose plants that won’t drop leaves and debris. Trees that shed flowers and/or leaves will clog the filter and will also lead to your having to skim and clean the pool more frequently.
- Choose plants that won’t lure bees or ants. Insects poolside are a nuisance. Opt for non-flowering plants to keep bees away. There are also plants that are natural ant “magnets” and you will want to avoid those as well.
