Are you planning to host a Fourth of July swimming pool party? If you’re like many Americans across the country, chances are, you are! With the 4th being on a Saturday, your Independence Day party just might last an entire weekend!

Prior to your swimming pool and backyard party, you will want to get on a cleaning schedule with your swimming pool service contractor from SwimRight Pools to clean your pool before and after the party.

If you have a pet or are going to a house party where the family has pets, you may want to pass along some of these pet safety tips to keep Fido and Fluffy safe this holiday weekend:

• If there are fireworks, keep the pets indoors. The sound of them could cause even your mild-mannered pet to panic and run away.
• Ask your veterinarian for advice on which type of insect repellent to use on your pets — you cannot use the same kind on your pets that you use on yourself.
• Don’t let your pets eat table scraps or have access to alcohol. Alcohol can be poisonous.
• If your pet is microchipped you will have a better chance of getting him back if he runs away. If you don’t have your pet microchipped you will want to make certain he is wearing a collar with a tag with your contact information to up your chances of getting him back if he runs away.
• Cool drinking water and shade should be available to your pet all day long. Also, if it’s a hot, humid day limit his activity so he doesn’t get overheated.
• Indoor pets, like cats, should be put in a room where they have no chance of escaping through an open door when your guests are going in and out of the house. Put their food and water and litter boxes in a room and leave them in there during the party.
• Even if your pet typically swims with the family it might be best to keep him out of the water if your guests are in there. Fill a kiddie wading pool with water and let your pet splash around in there.
