Should you get rid of the pool’s deep end?

Let’s just say right off the bat, getting rid of a deep end in your pool is a major undertaking. Should you get rid of the pool’s deep end? The swimming pool service contractors from SwimRight Pool Service & Repair in Scottsdale, Arizona offer some points to consider:

  1. You want to have easy access to the entire pool for games
  2. You have young children who are relegated to the shallow end
  3. You don’t have or want a diving board and you don’t really need a deep end

There are many other reasons to eliminate the deep end in your pool and they are as unique as the pool owners themselves. We can tell you that if you have a pool without a deep end you just might save on pool chemicals and it will be easier to keep the pool water the same temperature and cleaning is easier.

Should you get rid of the pool’s deep end?

Here are a few reasons to consider investing in getting rid of the deep end.

  1. You will use less water and that’s good for the environment and the volume of chemicals needed to clean the water.
  2. With a pool that is all one depth you will have more usable space. If you wanted to play basketball or volleyball, you can’t really do that with a deep end because you can’t touch the ground.
  3. You may find if you’re selling your house that a new homeowner would welcome a pool that is all one depth.
  4. It’s safer. You don’t have to keep shooing the children back under the rope and buoys or the painted line to keep them in the shallow end.
  5. Cleaning will be easier as you’re not trying to clean the darkened depths of a deep end and it is easy to skip over this area. If you’re a DIY-er and aren’t diligent, algae and bacteria could be floating around in the depths of the pool and lead to bacteria-filled water.

If you have a pool with a deep end that you’re looking to have made all one depth, give us a call and we can point you in the direction of how to get started and what the project might involve. We could also let you know if a pool without a deep end would be less expensive for a maintenance contract.
