In Scottsdale, Arizona, summer swim time comes around earlier in the year than it does in other, cooler parts of the country — like New York, for example! If you haven’t scheduled a pool openin yet, here are some of the steps your swimming pool service contractors from SwimRight Pool Service & Repair takes when they do that task for you.

Plan your 2018 pool opening

Chemicals. We bring the necessary chemicals to open the pool and kill off any bacteria that may be lingering in the water. If you open the pool yourself, have everything on hand so you don’t have to run to the pool supply store in the middle of the process.

Cleaning. We will clean the pool cover before it’s removed. The pool deck will also be cleaned to keep any dirt and debris out of the newly opened pool. If you’re opening the pool yourself, make sure you take these steps  as well. Your pool contractor cautions you to remove standing water and clean the cover once it’s off and going to be stored for the season.

Inspection. The pool and its equipment will be inspected to assure there are no leaks or cracks in the pool and that the equipment, plumbing and pipes are still intact. Plumbing and electrical outlets will be inspected and the power turned on.

Assembly. The expansion plugs will be removed from water inlets and equipment that was winterized with antifreeze will be cleaned and drained. Skimmer baskets will be cleaned and installed. Hoses will be replaced and hooked back up the skimmer and return jets to the pump and filter. Equipment and plumbing will be reconnected.

Water. The pool will be refilled to proper levels and the pool water will be skimmed and all debris scooped out.

Accessories. Ladders, diving boards, slides, etc. will be inspected and reinstalled.

Testing it out. The filtration system will be started and the pool vacuumed. The water will be tested and circulated for between 24 and 48 hours. The filtration system will be run until the water is clean.

The fun. After the pool is full, the pump has run and circulated the water and the chemicals are in balance it’s time for the fun part — Swimming!
