Easy pool maintenance tasks

Easy pool maintenance tasks offered by SwimRight Pool service contractors

Owning a swimming pool or spa and caring for it can be a daunting and confusing task especially when it comes to maintenance. The swimming pool service contractors from SwimRight Pools offer easy pool maintenance tasks that pool owners can do on their own, between service visits, to keep the pool clean and clear and the water free of bacteria. Doing some simple maintenance between pool service contractor visits could also save you money on your pool cleaning contract.

Easy pool maintenance tasks

  • Invest in a swimming pool cover. A cover reduces overall maintenance costs, saving on chemical use and heating costs. A cover reduces evaporation and acts as an additional safety barrier to keep children and pets from falling into the water. If you don’t have a retractable cover you will need somewhere to store it when you’re in the pool. Talk to us about where to store the cover when not in use.
  • Use a waterproof marker to write the operating pressure on the swimming pool filter. It should be noted after the installation of a new filter or after having cleaned the old one.
  • Keep all manuals and operating instructions in an easily accessible location.
  • Vacuum the pool between service visits. Work slowly around the pool or spa. Work down the walls and along the floor. Take your time because if you move quickly you stir up dirt, making it harder to remove.
  • Make sure the skimmer is on the “downwind side” of the pool; this location will let the wind push debris toward the opening and cut down on cleaning time.
  • When you’re adding chemicals, add them a little at a time – this is especially true when it comes to balancing the chemicals in a spa.
  • Add chlorine and chemicals at night, after the sun has gone down. The heat of the sun can evaporate the chemicals and when you add them you will want to stay out of the water.
