Get your hot tub ready for fall, Swim Right Pool Service & Repair contractors explain

Living in Arizona means you may not use your hot tub too much when the temperatures are in the triple digits. Once September rolls around, though, and the nights get cooler, you may find your thoughts turning to using your hot tub and spa more frequently. If that is the case, the swimming pool service and repair contractors from Swim Right Pools offer tips to get the hot tub and spa autumn-ready.

Get your hot tub ready for fall

If you’re getting ready to kick off hot tub “season” here are tips to prepare it:

  • Check the spa cover. Don’t use a waterlogged spa cover. Inspect the cover for rips or cuts. Patch holes or invest in a new cover to protect your hot tub.swimming pool service
  • Inspect the hot tub structure itself for any leaks or standing water. A spa or hot tub is home to hundreds of feet of plumbing and that means any of those pipes or plumbing joints could spring a leak. A small leak could potentially go unnoticed, but can lead to bigger issues with your hot tub if left unchecked. If you notice a leak, give us a call so we can take care of it.
  • Inspect the hot tub controls. Hot tub and spa controls are subject to damp warm environments and this could lead to corrosion of any of the devices and lead to malfunctions. Test the jet pumps, the circulation pump, the heat control. Run the hot tub controls through all of their paces and make note of any glitches you notice.
  • Check the filter. It will need to be cleaned and maintained prior to opening the hot tub for the season. It will also need to be replaced during your ownership of the hot tub. A hot tub filter cartridge will typically need to be replaced every year and a half, depending on how often you use it.
  • Pay attention to the electrical outlets and devices. Test spa lighting to assure it’s working; spa lighting is as much for atmosphere as it is for safety. Make certain no rodents damaged the electrical components during the off season. If you notice corrosion or any other build up, turn off the electricity to the unit and clean away the corrosion; you can use a soft toothbrush to loosen it. Never work on electrical components until the power to the unit has been turned off.

Call us and get on the schedule for a hot tub or spa pre-season check up so you’re ready to use it when the temperatures cooperate!
